We have decided to add Asherri (ash-air-e) to our name.
We feel it more reflects us as it is a combination of our names, Ashley and Sherri.

Bayside-Asherri Goldens can be found in the Houston, Texas area. We are a small breeder dedicated to the improvement and advancement of the English type Golden Retriever.

We have fallen in love with the English Golden Retriever and while we love the lighter colors, which are typical in this style of the breed, we do not breed strictly for color. There is a current trend in "rare white golden retrievers" I believe this is partially due to a lack of understanding that there are other standards for the Golden Retriever out side of the US. The AKC and the Golden Retriever Club of America consider the creamy shades to be undesirable. It is difficult to show the cream colors with the AKC, and most of the American lines have a darker coat. We breed our Goldens to fit within the standard of the Golden Retriever Breed Council of England. Under their standard coats should be, "Any shade of gold or cream, neither red nor mahogany." As with any breed only breeding for one trait is not in the best interest for the breed. There are many other factors that should be considered.

Because we are not breeding for AKC style Goldens we choose to show with the International All Breed Canine Association for International UCI titles. The UCI is supposed to judge the dogs according to the breed standard of the country of origin. Unfortunately some of the judges at these shows fail to understand that the Golden Retriever originated in Europe and should be judged by their standard not that of the AKC. Again we believe this is due to a lack of understanding in the US that there are different styles of this breed which go beyond the obvious lighter color. This is something we are striving to educate people about.

A lot of time and planning goes into each litter we produce. We take great pride in our lines and greatly respect the breeders in which they come. We are devoted to furthering the English style Golden in the US and by selectively choosing the best lines and only breeding the healthiest dogs with the soundest temperaments we hope to successfully promote and improve the breed.

We are not a large kennel. We are dedicated hobby breeders having only a few well planned litters each year. Our Goldens are raised in our yard and home, being well socialized and loved. We have found that this is the easiest way to truly know each dog's temperament. We let our puppies go to new, loving homes when they reach seven to eight weeks of age, depending upon how well the pup is developed socially. Potential new homes are screened and pet puppies are placed according to their personalities. We have found this to be very successful it also helps us to insure the happiness of the puppy and new family.
